Getting Around Izmir for Your Treatment: From Airport to Clinic

A transport guide for patients traveling with back or neck complaints: airport connections, city transit options and comfort tips.

From the airport to the center

From Adnan Menderes Airport, the İZBAN commuter train is the most practical way to Alsancak and Konak — about 25-30 minutes with step-free access. If you prefer a taxi, use the official ranks at the terminal.

Flying with back pain

On long flights, a short walk every 45-60 minutes and a small lumbar cushion make the journey easier. An aisle seat helps you move. These are general comfort tips — ask your physician about your own case.

In the city: metro, tram, ferry

Metro and tram run frequently along Konak-Alsancak; the İzmirim Kart works on all public transport and is sold at the airport İZBAN counter. Bay ferries are transport and a pleasant break in one.

Arrival day plan

Leave with at least 30 minutes of traffic margin. Bring your MRI/CT images (CD or digital link), previous reports and medication list.

Arriving from other cities

The intercity bus terminal connects to Konak by metro. If you drive, multi-storey car parks are available around Konak; leaving the car at the hotel on examination day is usually easier.
